The hypoallergenic properties of this cat are due to the low levels of FEL-D1 that occur naturally in this breed. FEL-D1 is a protein which is produced in the cat's saliva and applied to the coat during its daily cleaning and grooming. Once dry, it becomes airborne and is the irritant that causes allergic reactions in some people.

We take the extra steps necessary for people interested in a hypoallergenic cat by using a specialized Biotech Laboratory, and have our adults tested for their own individual levels of FEL-D1. This way, should you or anyone in your house have cat allergies, we are able to help you make the perfect choice and right match of a kitten with a person's own level of cat allergy.
